This is lecture 7 in the series "Introduction to the Mathematics of Climate" offered at the University of Minnesota in 2014 with the support of MCRN and The Institute for Mathematics and its Applications.

It reviews previous lectures on glacial cycles, and illustrates how Budyko's model fails to produce the amplitude changes over the past 5 million years and the mid-Pleistocene transition. Dr. McGehee provides a link to a PaleoBudyko MATLAB program for experimentation. He surveys recent developments in modeling glacial cycles, including Hogg's model and the Salzman-Maasch Model.
