David Kelly depicts Uncertainty Quantification Conference

The SIAM conference on Uncertainty Quantification took place in Savannah, Georgia, over the week starting March 31, 2014.

Experts from myriad fields descended upon the Savannah Hyatt to advertise the latest thinking from data assimilation, geophysical modelling, inverse problems, fluid dynamics, extreme event theory, MCMC and countless other subjects. With ten parallel invited sessions and eight plenary lectures, the attendee was never devoid of choice. The setting was unsurprisingly agreeable, with the hotel situated at the heart of the historic port town, overlooking the splendid Savannah river. Attendees lucky enough to find themselves lectured to in the Plimsoll room could lose minutes staring at the vast cargo ships edging out to sea.
