Samantha Oestreicher earns doctorate

Dr. Samantha Oestreicher is enthusiastically graduating from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a PhD in Mathematics in May 2014. Dr. Oestreicher has been involved with MCRN since its beginnings. Among her accomplishments, she helped create a short course on conceptual climate models and co-organized PaleoSeminar for the last five years.

Dr. Oestreicher has made good use of her theater major by giving 40+ technical presentations during the last five years with MCRN. She also spent three enlightening summers at LANL. Last summer Dr. Oestreicher received funding from MCRN and SAVI to attend the CliMathNet annual meeting in England and DACA in Switzerland. The experience found her a dissertation topic and a new view on life. A sincere thank you to MCRN for making these opportunities possible.

The future looks busy for Dr. Oestreicher! She is determined to publish her dissertation work. Additionally, she will be starting her new position at Target as a Business Process Consultant/Analyst with their supply chain team. She is looking forward to problem solving and hopefully finding opportunities to create greener practices in a company whose supply chain covers the globe.

Congratulations, Samantha!
