Karna Gowda is selected for Communicating Science workshop

MCRN member and Northwestern graduate student Karna Gowda has been selected to participate in ComSciCon 2013. Communicating Science 2013 is a workshop organized by graduate students for graduate students focused on science communication skills. The workshop will emphasize written communication in particular and be held from Thursday, June 13, 2013 until Saturday, June 15, 2013 in Cambridge, MA. The workshop is intended for graduate students from all fields of science and engineering who are interested in learning how to effectively communicate their research to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

The workshop was extremely selective - 700 students applied for 50 spots! The 2.5 day workshop, at the Microsoft NERD Center, will feature panels by science and communications experts, writing workshops, and numerous opportunities to interact directly with the expert panelists. As part of the workshop, attendees will draft science compositions and receive feedback from the experts and other attendees. Accepted applicants from outside the Boston area will receive full financial support for their travel and accommodations.

Congratulations, Karna!
