EADS Visiting Chair Professorship at ICTS and CAM of TIFR
EADS Corporate Foundation has entered into a partnership agreement with the Centre for Applicable Mathematics (CAM) and the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), both of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Bangalore, to create an International Teaching and Research Chair entitled “Mathematics of Complex Systems." The chair will undertake a vigorous research and training program in theoretical and computational aspects of mathematics of complex systems, in particular, in the areas of control theory, data assimilation, dynamical systems, optimal design problems, inverse problems, stochastic analysis and numerical methods. The EADS chair is a high-profile, prestigious position within the TIFR system, and indeed within the scientific establishment in India, with an endowment of approximately two-hundred thousand Euros (around 1.2 crores rupees) per year.
MCRN director Chris Jones has been awarded the first EADS Visiting Chair Professorship at ICTS and CAM, Bangalore, where he will be leading a group of researchers working on dynamical systems, data assimilation, and stochastic processes. The first program - a discussion meeting on Nonlinear filtering and data assimilation - is planned to take place between 8-11 January 2014.
